THE STAR, December 11, 2007

OFISGATE Sdn Bhd, a local communication auditing and bench marking company, has been named sole distributor for the Anagran FR-1000 Flow Router in Malaysia and South-East Asia.

The router, invented by a co-founder of the Internet, Dr Lawrence Roberts, is claimed to improve the way data is sent over an Internet Protocol (IP) network.

"It is a smaller version of packet-switching routers today and Roberts has predicted that it will be the next-generation of Internet routers", Shamsul Bahari Mokmin, Ofisgate chief executive officer told InTech last week.

The Anagran flow router helps enhance the performance of voice, video and data over an IP network.

It manages the data packets and sends them in a stream instead of in packets.

This, Shamsul said, eliminates the occurrence of lost data packets and the result is video and voice services that are continuous and clear.

SOLE DISTRIBUTOR: The Anagran FR-1000 Flow Router. Ofisgate has been named the sole distributor for the router in Malaysia and South-East Asia.
"Current packet routers have problems delivering video and voice over an IP network and they usually lose data packets, which result in poor quality data", he explained.

One way of looking at the Anagran Flow router is to think of it as a traffic command centre.

When the internet pipes are jammed, the router can also reorganise the data flow to ensure that no information is lost during transfer.

Shamsul claims the Anagran Flow router will increase today’s data transfer speeds.

"If it takes you 30 seconds to download a video from (video sharing site) YouTube.com, when the flow router is implemented, you can expect that same video to be downloaded in just 10 seconds," he claimed.

Furthermore, the Anagran is cheaper than regular packet routers today, according to Shamsul.

"Companies can get packet routers for between RM700,000 and RM800,00 but our router only costs about RM500,000" he said.

Shamsul said Ofisgate will start distribution in Malaysia before tackling other South-East Asian markets, such as Singapore and Indonesia.

"We have set up a RM5mil sales target for next year and we are approaching all Internet service providers and datacentres in the country," he said.

Shamsul reckons that the target is not an ambitious one, given the many benefits of the router.

"I strongly believe that it will enhance user experience and will help the service providers improve," he said.
